For the best height and cake texture, your ingredients should be at room temperature before mixing. Eggs and butter from the fridge need about one hour to reach room temperature. You can also use an oven thermometer to check your oven temperature.

STEPS:

STEP 1: GREASE THE PAN

You should prepare pans by generously greasing then using a pastry brush or paper towel. You can use use butter, margarine or liquid vegetable oil.

STEP 2: FLOUR THE PAN

Sprinkle about flour inside the pan (about 2 Tablespoons) and shake so that the flour covers all greased surfaces. Turn it upside down and tap to remove excess flour. You can also use Non-Stick Spray to coat the cake pan instead of grease and flour.

STEP 3: POURING BATTER & BAKING

Pour cake batter into the cake pan and place it in a pre-heated oven.

STEP 4: COOLING CAKE

When the cake finishes to bake remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes before unmoulding it.

STEP 5: UNMOLDING THE CAKE

Run a butter knife between the cake and side of the pan then remove cake from pan by placing it on a wire rack against cake. Turn cooling rack and pan over then lift the cake pan off carefully.

STEP 6: ICING THE CAKE

Let the cake completely cool before icing. Once cooled, brush off loose cake crumbs then ice.
